SJS Awarded SILVER Status for PBIS Program

After earning BRONZE status last year (the highest level possible for a new program) the PBIS team, led by Mrs. Willard, put a plan in place to go for the SILVER  this past school year.  Clear goals were set, strategies were implemented and data was collected to show progress which according to the representative from PBIS Maryland, clearly demonstrated our program was deserving of the next level of recognition.

What is PBIS?  PBIS Maryland is a national / international evidence and research based framework that many Archdiocesan schools implemented to establish procedures for prevention and intervention for bullying, harassment or intimidation.  It stands for Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports.

Known here to our SJS students as ROAR, the program focuses on being proactive in recognizing positive behavior to foster a safe and caring school environment.  Students, faculty and staff are expected to ROAR everyday.  ROAR stands for:

We show Respect as Jesus did.

We serve Others as Jesus did.

We have a positive Attitude as Jesus did.

We are Responsible as Jesus was.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE PBIS TEAM FOR ALL OF YOUR  WORK TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
